Information Systems (IS)

Current data from CMU's Career Services shows that nearly 100 percent of the college's information systems (IS) graduates receive employment offers before or immediately following graduation. Many receive multiple job offers. Their starting salaries are among the highest of all College of Business Administration graduates, with an annual beginning salary of approximately $43,000. Some earn starting annual salary offers of more than $50,000, and many report receiving signing bonuses.

The National Education Association (NEA) estimates that as many as 2.7 million teachers will be needed in the United States during the next decade. The National Business Education Association (NBEA) reports that many of these positions will be created following the departure of a large population of business education teachers poised to retire over the next ten years. This data indicates that an abundance of career opportunities exist for graduates of CMU's business teacher education program. As a CMU business teacher education graduate, you will be prepared for Michigan certification to teach business/office education or marketing education at the secondary level. If you earn a vocational education endorsement on your teaching certificate (majors only), you will greatly enhance your career opportunities.
